What a weekend! ☕🏁
The 2026 MXGP of Australia at Hidden Valley, Darwin was everything we hoped it would be and more — an incredible three days of world-class motocross, amazing energy, beautiful weather and, most importantly for us, so many wonderful people who stopped by the 1997 Coffee Bar.
From the moment we arrived at Hidden Valley, there was an incredible buzz around the event. With thousands of motocross fans coming together to watch the final round of the 2026 FIM Motocross World Championship, Hidden Valley was transformed into a huge festival of racing, entertainment and community. The 2026 MXGP of Australia ran from 18–20 September 2026, bringing the world’s best riders to Darwin for the championship finale. (Territory Families and Housing)
And for us, it was an experience we will never forget.
☕ 1997 Coffee Bar at MXGP Darwin
Our little 1997 Coffee Bar trailer was right there in the middle of the action, serving coffees and drinks to fans throughout the weekend.
We came prepared for a big crowd, but the response completely exceeded our expectations.
We SOLD OUT!
Everything we prepared for the event was gone. Seeing the line of customers waiting for their morning coffee, watching people come back later in the day for the crispy pork banh mi, and hearing so many lovely comments about our food & drinks made all the hard work behind the scenes absolutely worth it.
For a small local mobile coffee business in Darwin, being part of an international event like MXGP was a huge milestone for us.
❤️ The People Made the Weekend
One of our favourite parts of the whole weekend wasn’t just the racing — it was the people.
MXGP brought together locals, interstate visitors, international motocross fans, families, riders and event crews, and we were lucky enough to meet so many of them at our coffee trailer.
Everyone was so friendly, patient and positive, even when the queue was busy.
But there was something that made us especially happy.
We started seeing familiar faces!
Customers who had already bought a coffee earlier in the day came back again.
Then we saw them the next day.
And then again.
Some people came back specifically to find our 1997 Coffee Bar and grab another coffee before heading back to the track.
For us, that means so much more than simply making a sale. It means people enjoyed what we made enough to come back and see us again.
That’s exactly the kind of connection we want to build with our customers.

At 1997 Coffee Bar, we love bringing our own style to the Darwin coffee scene.
Alongside our coffee favourites, we also bring something a little different to events — including Vietnamese coffee and matcha drinks.
Our goal is simple: make everything with care, serve it with a smile and give people something they genuinely enjoy.
Whether you’re grabbing your first coffee of the morning before the motocross starts, taking a break between races, or looking for a refreshing drink on a warm Darwin day, we love being part of those little moments.
🏁 What a Weekend at Hidden Valley!
The atmosphere at MXGP Australia 2026 was incredible.
Hidden Valley was packed with racing action, entertainment and fans throughout the weekend. The event featured the MXGP, MX2 and FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship, alongside Australian support categories and a huge off-track program. (mxgpaustralia.com.au)
After the success of the inaugural Darwin MXGP in 2025, which attracted more than 36,000 attendances, the 2026 event returned for another huge weekend in the Top End. (Territory Families and Housing)
For us, though, the numbers aren’t what we’ll remember most.
We’ll remember the smiles.
The conversations.
The early-morning coffees.
The tired but happy faces.
The people telling their friends about us.
And especially those familiar customers who kept coming back to our little trailer.
